It’s that time of year! The holidays are here and the best way to celebrate the New Year is right in Downtown Akron. First Night® Akron is a family friendly New Year’s Eve celebration to entertain all ages as we welcome 2013. Admission button are $10 and children under 10 years of age are free.
There will be a variety of entertainment, from music, arts and crafts, face painting, comedy, showcased art, a mass wedding, fortune telling, dancing, a wide variety of food, and fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight.
Some of the coolest entertainment will be provided by JoyUNSPEAKABLE, a statue mime that moves randomly to surprise and interact with the audience. He looks like a painted statue but if you look closely he is a real person and will entertain you with his talents.
Do you wish you were snorkeling in the Bahamas for New Years, but cannot afford it? Look no further than checking out the Air Aquarium at the John S. Knight Center. This new under the sea adventure is a walk through exhibit of inflatable remote controlled sharks, clownfish and other exotic sea creatures that is sure to be amazing to see.
Did your last year’s resolution not work for you? Check out hypnotist Michael Oddo. He will be the opening act for the Akron Civic Theatre and will also be performing at the John S. Knight Center. He will be at the Hall of Resolution performing hypnosis on the audience for ‘typical’ New Year’s resolution issues, for example, weight loss and smoking cessation. Check it out; 2013 just might be your year to reach your goal.
Enhance your First Night experience by purchasing a Discover Downtown Akron Passport. For just $15, the Passport gains you access to First Night Akron (a $10 value) and 15 additional events in 2013. The total value of the Passport is more than $200. You can purchase buttons and Passports at Acme Fresh Markets, Library Shop on Main, Lock 3 and more.
